- Vu+ Player is an Android app designed to allow control of and streaming from your Vu+ satellite receivers, either from home, or from a remote location. Although designed for the Vu+ range of satellite receivers, it should work with any satellite receiver compatible with Enigma2.
- Vu+ Player (like most other third-party applications that need to communicate with your receiver) requires that OpenWebIf (OWIF), or alternatively WebIf, is working correctly.
- for streaming of TV and movies, a rather powerful Android-device is required but most high end devices sold in the past two years should be sufficient. If you are an owner of the Vu+ Solo2, you can enable transcoding which will allow even low end devices to work with streaming.
- to control your receiver remotely, you must set up corresponding portforwarding rules in your router. Typically you would need to forward port 80 (WebIf-port) to the IP-address of your receiver. For streaming remotely, you must forward port 8001 to your receiver. If you are using the transcoding-option of Vu+ Solo2 then you should forward port 8002 (default) to your receiver.
- for streaming of TV remotely (outside of your LAN), you need a very fast upload speed for your receiver and a rather good download speed for your Android-device. If you are using transcoding, which is currently available on Vu+ Solo2, then the upload speed can be much lower.
- streaming of HD-content in your LAN will in most cases either not work or will be very slow. This is normal due to the bandwidth required. Also in this case, the transcoding-function of Vu+ Solo2 will help and permit streaming of HD-content.
- the transcoding function is experimental and still under development. Always make sure to use the lastest drivers on your receiver.
- in case of streaming problems, the majority are not related to Vu+ Player but more likely to your network, receiver and/or Android device.
